Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been getting two different popups for MONTHS and no one knows how to make it stop.  I have spent 4 different HOURS LONG sessions with Best Buy to repair the problem, with no success.  I contacted a friend of mine who is a licensed Microsoft software specialist who looked up these popups in their private forum.  The only solution that seems to work is to totally delete all HP Printer software and only use Microsoft print options.  I have called HP repeatedly and the response is the same:  if I want HP to remove/repair THEIR OWN SOFTWARE errors, I will have to pay THEIR fees too.

I am at the point of donating the office printer and purchasing a new, non-HP printer with my own money.  It's not worth my time and emotions to keep having popups that I can't click away, that keep coming every time I print, and for which there seems to be no solution aside from paying what amounts to ransom fees to HP.

If anyone has any different suggestion, I am happy to try something else.  Suggestions?

Hi Kuroi,

Thank you for your response.  We have a couple of HP printers in the office but the one giving us the most trouble with these popups is  a Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw.  On one computer we removed all HP programming and downloaded HP Smart.  However we can't use HP Smart unless we log into HP.  We handle HIGHLY sensitive data and will not be tied into any other company.  Is there a way to use HP Smart without logging into HP?

On that computer we are having great success using Microsoft printing software, except for the scan option.  We haven't been able to figure out how to scan from the hopper, but can scan individual pages.

Any suggestions or information will be helpful.

Thank you in advance,

Texie

Hi @Texie,

Thank you for the response.

HP Smart requires users to log in to access its features and functionalities. Unfortunately, this is a built-in requirement and cannot be bypassed or disabled. This login process is designed to enhance user experience by providing personalized content, firmware updates, and support.

Given your situation handling highly sensitive data, you might consider alternatives to HP Smart. HP provides other software solutions that do not require user login and can help you manage and use your printer efficiently:

  1. HP Print and Scan Doctor: This tool helps troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve printing and scanning problems with HP printers. It does not require a user login.
  2. HP Universal Print Driver: Suitable for managing multiple printers, this driver can be used without logging into HP.
  3. HP Easy Start: A guided setup tool for installing HP printer drivers and software without requiring login credentials.

You can access these tools from HP's official website.

I hope this helps.
