I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer is not printing from your Windows 11 computer, here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
May I know
1. Since when are you facing this issue
2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display and error code
1. Check Printer Connection
- USB Connection: If the printer is connected via USB, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.
- WiFi Connection: If the printer is connected via WiFi, make sure it’s connected to the same network as your PC.
2. Restart Printer and Computer
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your Windows 11 computer to clear any possible issues with the print spooler.
3. Set Printer as Default
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer and click Set as default.
4. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Go to Device Manager > Printers, find the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978, and right-click it. Select Update driver.
- Alternatively, visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest driver for your printer.
5. Check the Print Queue

- Clear any stuck print jobs by right-clicking and selecting Cancel on any documents in the queue.
6. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website.
- The tool will automatically detect and fix issues with your printer connection and configuration.
7. Check for Windows 11 Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
- Ensure your system is fully updated, as printer-related bugs might be fixed in updates.
8. Reinstall HP Smart App (if using HP Smart) HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- If you are printing via the HP Smart app, uninstall and reinstall it to ensure it’s working correctly.
I hope this helps.
