does hp 9730e support the printer auto selecting the correct tray based on pdf page size?  I have all settings set to "printer auto select" and it still won't automatically print from the correct tray based on whether the document is letter or legal size.

 

I have documents that contain both letter and legal within the same file.  Example:  Pages 1-3 (letter), Page 5-6 (legal), Page 7-9 (letter).  

 

I want the printer to seamlessly print all pages in one session whether they are letter or legal.

Can you explain what happens when you send the print job? Does it reduce all pages to letter size? Or prompt?

 

Assuming you have both trays set properly on the printer itself. Also I suggest that for paper type you avoid "any" as this can cause issues as well.

 

Yes, if you click on the "select paper size based on PDF" in the print driver it should properly pick the trays.

Make sure you are using the proper HP driver as Microsoft Native windows drivers do not do a great job. They will often appear as a Microsoft IPP driver.
