i've had this printer forever (new and in the box) and finally got around to setting it up. all goes well until i tried to connect it to my macbook air- it says that it can only connect to macOS 10.5 or 10.6. is there a way to get around this without un-installing software on my computer/ buying a new printer?
i've connected the printer to wifi and have managed to print something from my phone once, though i can't replicate the process. i've been trying to connect the printer to the eprint feature (send to an email) and it says it cannot connect to the wifi, though the printer is certainly connected to the internet.
any ideas for how to get round these problems?

Hi @maureen99,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with your HP DeskJet printer not working after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.12. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you.
I recommend you to perform the following steps as a workaround:
- I did some research and found that for this printer there are no full-featured drivers available for Mac Sierra.
- However, in an Apple update there are inbuilt print and scan drivers available for this printer model. Please follow the below steps to install the Mac inbuilt printer drivers.
- Please download the Mac inbuilt drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2flF56z
- From System Preferences, click on Print & Scan.
- Click the Plus sign.
- Select the listed Deskjet 3050A J611 series.
- Click the drop-down menu next to Use or Print Using and click on Select Printer Software.
- Select the Deskjet 3050A J611 series from the list.
- Click OK to confirm your selection and add the printer, then try printing using the configured print queue.
Post performing the above steps, you may try to use the Apple Image capture and test the scanning. I hope this information helps.

Regarding the next issue. I understand that your not able to eprint after your iPhone is updated.
On May 31, 2017, the HP ePrint app retired from the App Store.
If you open the app from your Apple iOS device, a retirement message displays and the app no longer functions. Delete the app from your Apple iOS device.
Apple iOS devices support several mobile printing solutions. Try one of the following apps:
-
HP Printers - Print and Scan from the HP Smart App (Formerly HP AiO Printer Remote App) (Android, Apple iOS): Supports Apple iOS 9 and later devices. Print, scan, and troubleshoot printer issues. Go to HP Printers - Print and Scan from the HP Smart App (Formerly HP AiO Printer Remote App) (Android, Ap... (in English) in the App Store, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.
-
Apple AirPrint: Supports Apple iOS 4.2 and later devices. AirPrint is a mobile printing solution included with Apple iOS devices. Use the Action icon
or
to print from most apps. Go to Printing with Apple AirPrint (iOS) for more information.
For more mobile printing solutions, go to Mobile Printing Solutions Compatible with HP Printers.
Let me know how it goes, Thank you.
Let me know how that pans out,
