@Gwforty, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Setting Up Printer to Print Shaded Areas in Excel!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer is not printing shaded areas in your Excel documents, follow the steps below to ensure correct setup:

First Recommendations:

  • Use the HP-GL/2 Driver when printing from an Office application.
  • Ensure that the Paper Type setting on the front panel corresponds to the paper loaded in the printer. It is essential that the paper is correctly color calibrated for the printer. Consult the Calibration documentation if necessary.

Steps to Print Shaded Areas in Excel:

Open Microsoft Excel:

  • Start by opening your Microsoft Excel application.

Open the Document:

  • Go to File > Open and select the Excel document you want to print.

Select Print Area:

  • Highlight the area you want to print and set the print area by navigating to File > Print Area > Set Print Area.

Print Settings in Excel:

  • Click File > Print and proceed to the Print window.
    • Printer Name: Select the relevant printer (e.g., HP Designjet T1100 series).
    • Page Range and Copies: Select the range and number of copies you need.
    • Print What: Choose Active sheet(s).

Driver Settings:

  • Click on the Properties... button to adjust your printer settings.
    • Paper/Quality Tab:
      • Document Size: Select the paper size of the media loaded on the printer. Use the Custom button for a custom page size.
      • Paper Source: Choose the source of the paper (e.g., Roll or Sheet).
      • Paper Type: Select the paper type loaded in the printer.
      • Orientation: Choose the orientation of your image on the paper.
      • Print Quality: Select Standard Options and move the slider to Quality.
    • Features Tab:
      • Resizing Options: Select the scale option desired, choosing Print document on for paper size scaling or a percentage of actual size. Ensure that the document size is not larger than the available paper size.
      • Show Preview Before Printing: Check this option to view the layout before printing.
      • Roll Options: Check the Autorotate checkbox.
    • Color Tab:
      • Print in Color: Select this option.
      • Color Management: Choose Printer managed colors > sRGB.

Print Preview:

  • The Print Preview utility will appear, displaying the layout of the document. If the layout is correct, proceed to Continue.

Hope this helps!
