using a new MAC OS Sequoia.  Printer setup and HP smart installed to desktop.  Printer continues to show offline and will not respond to print command.

When your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer shows an offline status on a Mac using macOS Sequoia, it can be related to connectivity issues or incorrect settings. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer and Network Connection

  • Ensure the Printer is Powered On: Make sure the printer is turned on and there are no error messages displayed on the printer's control panel.
  • Check Wi-Fi Connection: Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. You can verify this from the printer’s control panel by navigating to the network settings.
  • Network Reboot: Restart your router by turning it off and on again to refresh the network connection.

2. Verify Printer Online Status on Mac

  • Go to System Preferences: Open the Apple menu and select System Preferences, then select Printers & Scanners.
  • Check the Printer List: Make sure your HP Officejet Pro 8620 is listed.
  • Set Printer Online: If your printer shows “Offline”, right-click the printer and select Set Online.

3. Reset Printing System

  • Reset Printer System: This step can solve many problems, including connectivity issues.
    1. Open Printers & Scanners in System Preferences.
    2. Right-click (or Ctrl+click) the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
    3. Confirm reset, which removes all current printers and scanners from your Mac.
    4. Add Printer Again: Click the + button to add your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer again.

4. Use HP Smart App for Printer Setup

  • Open HP Smart App: Ensure you have installed the HP Smart app. Open it on your Mac.
  • Add Printer: Follow the on-screen instructions to re-add your printer to the HP Smart app. Ensure your printer is connected to the network properly and that the app can communicate with the printer.
