HP OfficeJet 5258
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The printer has started printing only on 1/4 0f a letter sized sheet of paper It happens with every print job.. I am not sure how long it has been happening, but at least for 2 weeks. It happens on both firefox and microsoft edge.  I am not getting any error messages. I don't know of any changes to software or drivers . I am using wireless connection. I used the print and scan doctor just now and it says no problems.

I am thinking this may be a browser problem. I have checked the settings for printing and it doesn't make any difference as to what scale I have tried,100%, fit to page, actual size ,etc.

This is my first time to ever post, so if I need to send more information, let me know.

Hi @jhenson56,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are able to print 1/4th of the page.

To assist better -

1) Does the copy print out the same way?

2) Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

Meanwhile, try the below suggestions -

To resolve this issue, change the default paper size of your printer:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and the click Printers.

  2. Right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Paper tab, and then click the paper size you want to use in the Paper Size box.

  4. Click OK, and then close the Printers folder.

When printing from browser -

Mozilla Firefox browser-

Right-Click a clear space along with the top ribbon in Firefox > CHECK Menu Bar

Firefox > File > [Print] > Print Preview >

Scale: Select Percentage OR Shrink to Fit

Page Setup > tab Format & Options (wording varies)

  • Shrink to fit page Width:

The setting is useful to control text/images that might otherwise extend beyond the sides.

NOTE:  Ensure Scale is NOT set to zero

Edge browser

Open Edge browser > open your URL / webpage > Settings (three dots, upper right) > Print > More Settings

If necessary, select your Printer

Select preferred settings, including Scale

Make sure you have the number of the pages-per-sheet set to one.

Keep me posted.

I am having the same problem, except my printer is an OfficeJet Pro 6975 and I am using Windows 10 64-bit, and I only have this problem in Mozilla Firefox.
