Hi @renneestandard,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'd be happy to walk you through customizing your HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 printer settings to print Avery labels using template 11136. You're doing great by reaching out, and this process is easier than it looks once you know where to go.

Step-by-Step Guide to Print Avery 11136 Labels

1. Download the Avery Template

  • Go to Avery Template 11136
  • Choose your preferred format (Microsoft Word is the most common)
  • Download and open the template

2. Load the Labels into Your Printer

  • Use Avery 11136 sheets (typically 1" x 2-5/8" labels, 30 per sheet)
  • Load them into the main paper tray face down (printable side facing down if using rear feed)

3. Customize Your Labels

  • Open the template in Word or Avery Design & Print Online
  • Enter your text or graphics into each label box
  • Save your file

4. Set Printer Preferences

Before printing, adjust your printer settings:

  1. Go to File > Print
  2. Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8740
  3. Click Printer Properties or Preferences
  4. Set the following:
    • Paper Type: Labels or Plain Paper
    • Paper Size: Letter (8.5 x 11 in)
    • Print Quality: Best (for crisp text)
    • Tray Selection: Choose the tray where labels are loaded

⚠️ Important: Do not use duplex (double-sided) printing. Labels must be printed single-sided.

5. Print a Test Page

  • Print one sheet on plain paper first to check alignment
  • Hold it against a label sheet to confirm positioning

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
