I’m having a problem configuring a HP LaserJet M607. Logging into the printer with it’s IP address, I go to the Print tab. In there is “manage trays”. I’ve set it up this way: Tray 1 – letter/plain, Tray 2 – letter/Bond, Tray 3 – envelope “any type”, Tray 4 – letter/letterhead, Tray 5 letter/letterhead (actually is 2nd page letterhead), and Tray 6 – letter/plain. This mirrors what is in the trays.
In Windows 10, I make the tray 6 the default in the printer driver, so if we print an email for instance, it prints on plain paper. In Word if I want to print a two-page document, I set the first page letterhead (tray 4) and second page letterhead (Tray 5). It then prints both pages on tray 4.
Another bigger problem is most print jobs, all set as letter (8 ½ x 11), kicks up an error about paper type being wrong on the HP display. If I open the expected tray and close it, it will print. But then back to the HP dashboard and my paper tray no longer says letterhead, but says plain.
I just downloaded the HP Universal print driver to try tomorrow when no one is in the office. Am I missing something? This all worked fine on our HP 4350 with all the same bins, but in a different order (it had a dedicated envelope attachment which is now a tray). Any input would be appreciated.

Make sure you have the "use selected tray exclusively" turned on or else the printer may subsititute because it thinks the same paper is in both trays.
