I just got a new laptop and when I try to install my printer everything looks as though it's gone through smoothly. Then I try to print and it just says "Error-printing" in the queue and doesn't print. When I check under my devices it says "Driver unavailable." I've used the print and scan doctor, I've installed through HP Smart, no dice. I can print from my phone, desktop, and my wife's laptop but this new laptop just doesn't like the printer for some reason. I've also tried manually downloading the drivers but that just redirects me to HP Smart so not very helpful. I'm trying to connect on a wireless network. I've tried the wifi direct route too but still no luck. Any other ideas or am I just stuck forwarding to my phone until I break down and get a new printer?

Welcome to HP Support Community
I would like to help
I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and then download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the full feature software Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL65825/bi-158440-1/OJ8210/OJ8210_Full_WebPack_38.8.1943.... and follow the onscreen instructions
Also ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Again everything seems to go smoothly, right up until I try to print something. Then it does the same thing it has been doing. Error - Printing and Error in the device manager. I'm kind of out of patience at this point.

Please try creating a new User Account and then reinstall the printer drivers on the New Account
