I am getting an error uploading firmware to the HP M602DN's Embedded Web Server - "Invalid or corrupt firmware upgrade file" on the General -> Firmware Upgrade page.
The new firmware is FutureSmart Bundle Version 3.9.6 - HP LaserJet Enterprise M601/602/603 Series Printer FIRMWARE and downloaded from https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/LJM601_602_603/ljM601_602_603_fs3.9.6_fw_2309025_...
The firmware currently on the device is FutureSmart 2 SP1 (2200643_228341)
Inside the zip file, there is a .bdl file and a md5 hash file. I have verified that the hash is correct using sysinternals md5sum.

I have tried using IE and Firefox, and with the Virus checker on and off without any difference.
I have no issues sending print jobs to the printer which is cat5 cable attached.
Any thoughts ? I looks like the existing firmware doesn't like the new firmware. it's definitely a M602 !

Solved.
It appears that you are not meant to upload the file you have actually downloaded ; that would clearly be too easy. Instead you need to extract the .bdl file and upload that. Not that HP could be bothered to either point out that you are uploading a file with a different extension than that expected, nor indeed cope with the fact you have uploaded a zip file with a md5# in it and actually make use of it.
On the plus side, the upgrade has also put some more toner in my cartridge, which is now 100% full when it was only 70% full before. I'm not entirely sure of the physics behind this, but I'm guessing that as it is a black toner cartridge, dark matter may be involved. I shall have to read up on my string theory and two-dimensional dogs.
