Product: HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0045au

My laptop is of 8gb ram , with 2 slots combined. model naame HP ENVY 13-ay0000 x360 , I want to upgrade my ram to 16 gb, can i upgrade it or does it lead to some problems. if yes then which ram is prefered to buy.

Hi:

 

The product specs for your notebook indicate that it comes with 8 GB of DDR4-3200 (onboard) memory.

That means the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be removed or upgraded.

 

Below is the link to the service manual.  Chapter 3 has the list of motherboards that were offered in the model series.

Some motherboards came configured with 16 GB of onboard memory and others like yours came with 8 GB of onboard memory.

 

The only way to upgrade the memory would be to replace the system board, and that would probably cost more than buying a new notebook that comes with 16 GB of memory.

 

Chapter 5 of the service manual has no procedure to remove or replace the memory.

 

Note that very few 13", 12" and 11" notebooks come with upgradable memory for some reason.
