@MSM91, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If the carriage does not move to the center of the HP Smart Tank 7605 printer when you lift the ink access door, it might be because the printheads do not need replacement or weren't properly prompted for replacement. Please ensure that there's a printhead error or message indicating the need for replacement before proceeding.
Steps to Replace the Printhead
Turn on the Printer:
- Ensure the printer is powered on.
Lift the Ink Access Door:
- Open the ink access door fully. Typically, the carriage should automatically move to the center. If it doesn't, verify whether there's a printhead error message.
Press the Blue Button on the Carriage:
- Locate the blue button on the printhead carriage and press it. This will open the printhead cover.
Remove the Faulty Printhead:
- Holding the printhead by its sides to prevent ink leakage, gently remove it from the carriage and place it on a protected surface.
Install the New Printhead:
- Unpack the new printhead carefully, removing any protective plugs and tapes.
- Insert it into the correct slot until it clicks into place.
- Close the Printhead Cover:
- Ensure the printhead cover is securely closed.
- Close the Ink Access Door:
- Make sure the ink access door is closed completely.
- Align the Printheads:
- Follow the printer prompts to align the new printheads for optimal performance. This may involve printing and scanning an alignment page.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
