Hi @Vic3671,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 6550 All-in-One Printer series is showing a "setup incomplete" error and won't print despite being connected to WiFi with a strong signal, try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer completely and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

2. Check HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet).
  • Ensure that the app recognizes the printer and shows it as connected. If not, try to reconnect the printer by following the prompts in the app.

3. Reset Network Settings on Printer

  • Reset network settings on the printer by following these steps:
    1. Go to the printer's control panel.
    2. Navigate to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
    3. Reconnect the printer to your WiFi using the HP Smart app or via the printer’s control panel.

4. Complete Setup in HP Smart

  • Ensure that the setup was completed using the HP Smart app. Follow any remaining prompts in the app to finish the setup process. Look for any indication that asks you to complete the setup, such as activating HP+ or enrolling in HP Instant Ink.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer:
    • Go to HP Smart app > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Check for Updates.
    • If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

6. Uninstall and Reinstall Printer

  • Remove the printer from your devices:
    • On Windows, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > select your printer > Remove Device.
    • On macOS, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > select your printer > Remove Printer.
  • Reinstall the printer by adding it back via the HP Smart app or Printers & Scanners settings.

7. HP Diagnostic Tools

  • Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tools such as the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows, or the HP Support Assistant, to detect and fix issues automatically.

8. Hard Reset

  • As a last resort, perform a hard reset by restoring the printer to factory settings. This will remove all settings and connections:
    1. Go to Settings on the printer's control panel.
    2. Select Restore Factory Defaults or Reset All Settings.
    3. Reconnect the printer to WiFi and start the setup from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
