I have a 8025e pro that did not come with setup cartridges, can I bypass this?

Hi @hartpence7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e, the setup cartridge error typically appears when the printer expects setup cartridges to be used for initial configuration. Unfortunately, HP printers are often locked to require these cartridges during the setup process, and bypassing this can be difficult. However, there are a few options you can try.

Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues with cartridges or reduce restrictions. You can check this using the HP Smart app or from the printer’s menu.

Try Regular HP Ink Cartridges: In some cases, using standard HP cartridges (instead of third-party or refilled ones) may allow the setup process to proceed. Ensure these cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and are compatible with the 8025e model.

Reset the Printer: Perform a factory reset:

  • On your printer’s touchscreen, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Once reset, try using your regular cartridges again. Sometimes, this reset can help the printer recognize cartridges other than the setup ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
