Hi @7766

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry the setup process hasn’t gone smoothly with your LaserJet Pro P1108 Plus on your Mac. I understand how frustrating it can be when everything seems ready but the printer still doesn’t respond. I appreciate your effort in trying to get it working.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check USB Connection

  • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your Mac.
  • Avoid using USB hubs or extension cables—connect directly to the Mac’s USB port.

Step 2: Install HP Printer Drivers for macOS

Step 3: Add Printer Manually

  • Open “System Settings” > “Printers & Scanners.”
  • Click the “+” button to add a printer.
  • Select your HP LaserJet Pro P1108 from the list.
  • If it doesn’t appear, click “Add Printer or Scanner,” then choose “HP LaserJet P1108” from the USB section.
  • Choose “HP LaserJet Series PCL” or “Generic PostScript Printer” if the exact driver isn’t listed.

Step 4: Reset Printing System (if needed)

  • In “Printers & Scanners,” right-click in the printer list and select “Reset printing system.”
  • This clears old configurations and lets you start fresh.

Step 5: Test Print

  • After setup, open any document and select “Print.”
  • Choose your HP printer and send a test page.

These steps should help your Mac recognize and communicate with the printer.
