Thanks for visiting the HP community. A very good day to you! I read the post regarding issues with installing HP smart app. I will be delighted to assist you here.
You’ve done an excellent job of diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular research were done as well. Kudos to you on that score. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you try to first uninstall it?
For now, try these steps:
- Ensure to run all Windows updates completely
- Then right-click HP Smart and Uninstall
- Visit the Win Store and Install HP Smart
- This should do the trick for you. If the HP smart app is not installed or if the steps don’t work, then follow instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2hmgdBr (HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10) to download, install and use HP Smart App along with some very useful FAQs,
This should fix the issue for you.
For reinstalling the printer drivers, uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these steps:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2JCnkQv and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix it for you.
- If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2o3acvH
- This should resolve the issue for you. There is an associated YouTube video on how to do it.
Please update the printer firmware also if required by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2rHKwDD
Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.
