I've sold my HP3760 printer and the buyer has contacted me to ask for a password which is requested when she tries to install it. I have removed it from my HP account but is there something else we need to do to reset it?

Hi @k23vlr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Remove Printer from HP Smart Account: Since you’ve already removed the printer from your HP account, the next steps focus on the device itself.

Factory Reset: Performing a factory reset will revert the printer to its original settings.

  • Unplug the printer from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the printer to the power and turn it on.
  • Navigate to the printer’s menu.
    • For touchscreen models: Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Default or Restore Settings.
    • For non-touchscreen models: Refer to your printer's user manual for the reset procedure, often involving a combination of buttons.

Clear Network Settings: If the printer is connecting to a Wi-Fi network:

  • Access the Network settings from the printer’s menu.
  • Select Restore Network Settings to clear previously stored Wi-Fi networks.

Update Firmware: Ensure the printer is using the latest firmware. This can be done by visiting the HP support website and searching for firmware updates for the HP3760 model.

Reinstallation: The new owner should now be able to set up the printer as if it were brand new:

  • Download the latest drivers and setup software from the HP website.
  • Follow the installation instructions, which will guide through connecting the printer to their Wi-Fi and setting it up.

I hope this helps.
