My color inc cartridge is low so I was trying to print something using only black ink. After some googling, I see I can only do this with the printer plugged into my PC and with the full driver installed.(I normally print via a print server as wifi is not good in the room the printer is kept)
I plugged the thing into my PC, installed the driver and tried to access the settings. I got a screen which looks like a settings screen, but all of the text seems to be in an eastern font (I wont try to guess)
Trying to guess where the setting is I need mad the application I was printing from completely Crash (tried from Chrome, then tested from a simple notepad.. Both Crashed)
Trying to print using default settings now returns an error
I have deleted the printer and plugged it back into the print server, but I still get the same error when I try to print..
What is in this Executable you have published on your site which can do so much damage?
I have seen this same link recommended by staff in discussions here.
The driver I have installed is at this address.

@MrSteve2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
That is the correct driver you have downloaded from the HP Support site.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue
Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
Check for updates on your Windows computer.
Install the printer using Windows built-in driver
Refer to this document to know how. If C4580 is not listed, use HP Deskjet 990c to install the printer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Kumar,
I lost half a day trying to sort the damage that driver did to my computer, you really must stop suggesting people download it...
I virus scanned it and it came back negative, but it seems to stop the spooler form working properly.
It may be a machine specific issue, but it would be wrong for me to mark it resolved until you have confirmed you have tested the file.. and confirm that.
If you cab explain why the driver did this to my machine, then great, otherwise it remains a concern.

I understand your concern. However, there are no issues with the printer driver downloaded from the HP website. These are the files that are tested by the HP engineers before uploading them to the public support site. There are many customers who download the same drivers and this type of issue has never occurred.
It could be because of corrupt system files or any other application on the PC.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
