HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125a

Hello there,

I have HP LaserJet  Pro MPF M125a (On Windows 10, 64-bit, OS). I've been trying to install the printer for a couple of days now.  The installation process is stuck at 99% and it shows the same fatal error (it takes too long to install). I've tried over 10 times, different methods.

**

I've downloaded the last version of the installation package

I've tried this solution https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693964 without success.

.I've tried also to add the printer through PRINTERS AND SCANNERS.

I've 'succeeded' in installing it (it shows in the Printers and scanners list, as a default printer) but it doesn't want to print.

I've tried the HP smart app, but it doesn't recognize the printer.

I've tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but it doesn't recognize the printer, either.

I know this error is common, but I've tried everything and I've lost hope I'll install it except by formatting the laptop in reinstalling Windows.

Any other ideas?

Hello again,

Finally, I've found a solution!

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Fatal-Error-an-instalation-took-too-lon...

This worked for me too.

One more precision... if the previous command doesn't work, and the system shows an error

"Deleting the driver package failed: One or more devices are presently installed using the specified INF"

use this DOS command instead

pnputil.exe /delete-driver oem##.inf /force

Hi @Phill_24

1.  First check that a USB cable is connected between printer and computer.

2.  Then try to install with next driver:

3.  If that fails, then find in your computer following folder name:

>> C:\LJPM125a_Full_Solution\

and  double click the next file  >> HpSetup.exe

* Click YES   to say thank you,

* Click Accepted Solution when question is answered.

Best regards,

Hello back. Thank you for your answer, but that didn't work either 😞

1. I've already tried with the  https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/LES/M125/LJPro_MFP_M125-126_full_solution_15311.e... many times. (And I tried once again, as you suggested. I should mention also, that I removed all HP devices and did a clean boot, again, before the installation, just in case.)

2. It reports the same fatal error, after 20 minutes of the installation process.

3. I didn't have C:\LJPM125a_Full_Solution\  folder on my computer either, after the failed installation.

4. The only thing that works is adding a printer through PRINTERS AND SCANNERS (win10) and using an inf. file from the unpacked/unzipped installation package (step 1).

I've been using the following:

Printers and Scanners > The Printer that I want is not listed > Add a local printer with manual settings > Have Disk

5. It's puzzling (for me, at least) that the Device manager doesn't show in that way Printers but ONLY printer queues.

6. I've tried to test the printer, by printing a test page (and through a PDF reader), but it reports an error. Therefore, it doesn't print.
