Hi @CeliT,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the screen on your HP Deskjet 2721e printer is flashing and displaying an "E" next to "0," it typically indicates an error or issue with the printer. The "E" likely stands for "Error." There could be several reasons for this error, and here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check the Cartridge Installation: Since you mentioned you already changed the cartridge, make sure it was installed correctly. Open the printer cover and verify that the cartridges are securely and properly seated in their respective slots.
  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve minor glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Clear any Paper Jams: Paper jams can cause errors on the printer. Check for any stuck paper inside the printer and carefully remove it. Ensure there are no small bits of paper left behind that could cause further issues.
  • Update Firmware: Check the HP website for any firmware updates available for your printer model. If there are updates, follow the instructions to download and install them.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a reset on the printer to clear any internal errors. The steps to reset the printer may vary depending on the model. Check your printer's user manual or the HP website for specific instructions.
  • Check for Error Codes in the User Manual: Refer to the printer's user manual for a list of error codes and their explanations. This may help you pinpoint the specific issue.
  • Check Connectivity: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or the network (if it's a wireless printer). If there's a problem with the connection, it could lead to errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
