i have an OFFICEJET PRO 9025. Have a new Win 11 laptop. Smart installer does n't find printer on USB [I've used the printer via USB on my desktop.] Have restarted laptop, restarted printer, disconnected USB.....still does n't 'find' printer.

Let's try some additional troubleshooting steps to address the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 not being detected by the HP Smart installer on your Windows 11 laptop.

 

Step 1: Verify USB Connection

Change USB Port:

  • Try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your laptop.

Use a Different USB Cable:

  • Swap the USB cable with another to ensure the cable isn't faulty.

Step 2: Uninstall Previous Drivers and Software

Uninstall HP Software:

  • Press Windows + R, type control, and press Enter.
  • Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Uninstall any HP printer software related to the OfficeJet Pro 9025.

Remove Printer from Devices and Printers:

  • Go to Devices and Printers in Control Panel.
  • Right-click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 and select Remove device.

Step 3: Download and Install the Latest Drivers

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.

Find Your Printer:

  • Enter "HP OfficeJet Pro 9025" in the search bar and select your printer model.

Download Drivers:

  • Download the full feature driver and software package for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025.

Install the Drivers:

  • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Step 4: Manually Add the Printer

Open Settings:

  • Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.

Go to Devices:

  • Select Bluetooth & devices and then Printers & scanners.

Add a Printer:

  • Click on Add a printer or scanner and wait for your printer to appear in the list.
  • If the printer appears, select it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Step 5: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.

Run the Tool:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any issues with the printer connection.

Step 6: Check USB Settings in BIOS/UEFI

Enter BIOS/UEFI:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, Del, or Esc during startup).

Check USB Settings:

  • Ensure that USB ports are enabled and that USB legacy support is enabled if applicable.

Step 7: Update Windows

  1. Check for Windows Updates:
    • Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
    • Go to Update & Security and click on Check for updates.
    • Install any available updates.

Step 8: Disable USB Selective Suspend Setting

Open Power Options:

  • Press Windows + R, type control, and press Enter.
  • Go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.

Change Plan Settings:

  • Select your current power plan and click on Change plan settings.
  • Click on Change advanced power settings.

Disable USB Selective Suspend:

  • Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting.
  • Disable this setting for both On battery and Plugged in.

 

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to try connecting the printer to another computer to confirm that the printer itself is functioning correctly.
