I am trying to update the driver on my HP pro 6978. the printer works fine but it will not scan any more. the function of the scanner degrades with each Mac OS update and my OS is Sonoma 14.1.1, and that may be my problem. 

I downloaded the latest driver and installed. When I try to complete the installation, I come to a window about the HP Product Improvement Study asking how I use the device. I click my answer and a small empty window appears below but there is no prompt or description of what to enter there. Nothing I enter works - I can't proceed to the next window, and my installation is incomplete. Can anyone help? i run my business from home and I need to scan something today.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer.

The below image has the supported operating system for your printer.

 

 

Kindly refer to the steps on this link to add the printer using Mac built-in driver and

let me know if that resolves the issue.
