Hi @dmug,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To resolve the issue of connecting your Mac Pro to your HP LaserJet 1320, you can try the following steps.
Check Printer Connection:
- Ensure the printer is properly connected to the network. If you're using a wireless connection, verify that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. If using USB, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the Mac Pro.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Although macOS 14.6.1 may not have an official driver listed for the HP LaserJet 1320, you can still try using the drivers available for earlier macOS versions. Visit the HP Support website and search for the LaserJet 1320 drivers. Download and install any available drivers for macOS.
Use HP Smart or Apple AirPrint:
- Install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. It might be able to detect and configure your printer.
- Alternatively, try using Apple AirPrint if your printer supports it. This should be available if the printer is connected to the same network as your Mac Pro.
Reset Printing System:
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the Printers list and select "Reset printing system." This will remove all printers and reset the print system, allowing you to add the printer afresh.
Add the Printer Manually:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Click the + button to add a printer.
- If the printer appears in the list, select it and follow the prompts to add it. If it doesn’t appear, try adding it using the IP address if you know it (for network printers).
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your HP LaserJet 1320 has the latest firmware. You can check this through the printer’s control panel or the HP website.
Verify Network Settings:
- If using Wi-Fi, make sure your Mac Pro and printer are on the same network. You can also try assigning a static IP address to the printer through its network settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
