Hi @thfcfan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is showing as "offline" on your laptop even though it is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi, here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Printer and Network Connection
Printer Connectivity
- Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Check the printer’s control panel or settings for the Wi-Fi connection status.
- Restart your printer to refresh its network connection.
Wi-Fi Signal
- Make sure the Wi-Fi network is stable and the signal is strong. Move the printer closer to the router if needed.
Network Consistency
- Ensure your laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
Set the Printer as Default
- On your laptop, go to:
- Windows: Control Panel > Devices and Printers or Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Mac: System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click on your printer (Windows) or select it (Mac) and choose "Set as Default."
Remove and Re-add the Printer
- Remove the printer from your laptop’s printer list:
- Windows: Select the printer, click Remove Device.
- Mac: Select the printer, click - (minus) button.
- Re-add the printer:
- Windows: Click Add a Printer, select your printer, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Mac: Click the + (plus) button, select your printer, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Printer Offline Mode
On Windows:
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer, and click See what’s printing.
- In the menu bar, ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
On Mac:
- Go to Printers & Scanners and ensure the printer is not paused or set to offline.
