Hi @BaggsFamily5,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering the error message "The specific path does not contain any applicable device INFs" while trying to install the drivers for your Samsung M2020 Xpress printer on your new HP laptop, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Download the Correct Drivers:
- Ensure you’re downloading the correct drivers for your specific printer model (Samsung M2020 Xpress) and the operating system version on your HP laptop (Windows 10 or 11).
- You can find the drivers on the Samsung Support website or the HP Support website since Samsung printers are now under HP.
Use Samsung Printer Software:
- Download the Samsung Universal Print Driver or Samsung Easy Printer Manager, which might help in recognizing your printer and installing it correctly.
Run as Administrator:
- When installing the drivers, right-click the setup file and select Run as administrator to ensure that the installation has the necessary permissions.
Check for Compatibility:
- Ensure that the driver you are trying to install is compatible with your version of Windows. Sometimes older drivers may not work correctly with newer operating systems.
Install via Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click on Add a printer or scanner and let Windows search for the printer. If it appears, try to add it this way.
Remove Old Drivers:
- If you previously attempted to install drivers that did not work, remove any remnants:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your printer and select Remove device.
- Also, check in Control Panel > Programs and Features for any Samsung or HP printer software that can be uninstalled.
Check the Printer Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your laptop via USB or that it's on the same Wi-Fi network if you're using it wirelessly.
- If using USB, try different ports on your laptop or a different USB cable.

Update Windows:
- Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes updates include driver fixes that might resolve your issue.
Use Compatibility Mode:
- If the driver installation still fails, try running the installer in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows (e.g., Windows 8 or 7):
- Right-click the installer > Properties > Compatibility tab > Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select an older version.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
