HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

For love or money I cannot get my HP Officejet Pro 7740 wide format all-in-one printer to print borderless!

I have read various forums and solutions but have NEVER got the option for borderless.  I've changed the paper type to PHOTO in the preferences, on the printer, in the software.  I've tried printing from the HP Smart App (photo's) but absolutely nothing seems to work.  As this is the reason I bought the printer (already owing 2 HP printers) I am very frustrated to say the least.

Hi @EVT2023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to print borderless documents on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check Paper Size and Type:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct paper size and type for borderless printing. Borderless printing often requires specific paper sizes (e.g., 8.5x11 inches or A4) and types that are compatible with borderless printing.

Print Settings:

  • Make sure that you have selected the borderless printing option in your print settings. When you choose to print a document, go to the print settings and look for an option like "Borderless Printing" or "Edge-to-Edge Printing." Enable this option if available.

Software Settings:

  • Double-check the settings in the software application you're using to print. Some applications have their own page setup or print settings that can override the printer settings.

Printer Driver Update:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can cause printing issues. You can download the latest driver from the HP website.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can address printing problems.

Paper Alignment:

  • Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly and aligned properly in the paper tray. Misaligned paper can cause printing issues, especially with borderless printing.

Clean Print Head:

  • If the print head is dirty or clogged, it can affect print quality. Use the printer's maintenance or cleaning feature to clean the print head.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Make sure that you have enough ink in the cartridges. Low ink levels can result in poor print quality or incomplete borderless prints.

Test Print:

  • Try printing a test page to see if the issue persists. This can help you determine if the problem is specific to certain documents or if it's a general printing issue.

By following these steps and ensuring that your printer settings are correctly configured for borderless printing, you should be able to resolve the issue and print borderless documents on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
