If you are referring to "HP Scan", part of the full driver printer software,
Try / Consider ---
Remove / Add the printer using the previously installed printer software.
This will work as long as the installed printer software is still "OK" (not corrupted).
What? It's possible that Windows Update just "tangled" the driver setup without actually destroying the installed software.
OR
Uninstall the existing printer software > Restart computer > Install a fresh copy of the software.
This generally works as long as the network is stable and the software can be reloaded using the current network setup.

If you have not done so, consider
If the software is already installed and you want to "reinstall":
Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features
Restart the computer and log in
Check that all the pieces of the printer software have been removed - if anything is deleted, Restart computer and log in
Next,
Download, Save, (then) Install new copy of the printer software
After the software in installed, Restart the computer and log in
