HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm having difficulties setting up this printer.  That model "9125e" is not listed.  Is it the same as Pro 9120e?

Hi @JAMES19492

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Yes, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and 9120e are part of the same printer series and share nearly identical specifications. If the 9125e isn’t listed during setup, selecting the 9120e will work perfectly.

Thank you for your patience while setting this up—it’s completely understandable to feel stuck when the exact model doesn’t appear. Let’s walk through the setup together and get your printer up and running smoothly.

  • Both the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and 9120e belong to the same printer series and are functionally equivalent.
  • They share the same core features: print, scan, copy, and fax capabilities.
  • Both models use pigment-based inkjet technology for high-quality, smudge-resistant prints.
  • They support the same HP 936 ink cartridge series.
  • Connectivity options are identical: Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet are available on both.
  • Both models are compatible with HP+ (optional activation).
  • The physical design, control panel layout, and paper handling features are the same.
  • The 9125e may be a retailer-specific or region-specific variant of the 9120e, which is why it might not appear in the HP App or driver listings.
  • If the 9125e is not listed during setup, selecting the 9120e will work seamlessly without any loss of functionality.
  • The HP App and Windows drivers treat both models interchangeably for installation and support purposes.

Setup Steps for Windows Using the HP App

  1. Unbox and power on the printer. Ensure paper is loaded and ink cartridges are installed.
  2. On your Windows PC, open the HP App. If not installed, download it from the Microsoft Store or HP’s official site (support.hp.com in Bing).
  3. Select “Set up a new printer”.
  4. If 9125e doesn’t appear, choose HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e from the list.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the printer to Wi-Fi and complete the setup.

If the printer isn’t detected:

  • Ensure your PC and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Temporarily disable VPN or firewall if used.
  • Restart both devices and retry.

Let’s make sure this setup experience ends on a high note. If anything feels unclear or the printer still doesn’t show up, I’ll guide you through the next steps.
