@Trashman1515, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've forgotten the password for your HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer, here are the steps to reset it depending on the type of password you're referring to:

Reset Wireless Password (Wi-Fi Direct or Wireless Setup)

If you're trying to reset the Wi-Fi Direct or Wireless Setup password:

Steps:

  1. On the printer's control panel, tap the Wi-Fi Direct icon or go to Settings > Wi-Fi Direct.
  2. Tap Edit Settings.
  3. You can view or change the password here.

Reset Embedded Web Server (EWS) Admin Password

If you set an administrator password for the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) and forgot it:

Steps:

  1. Restore the printer to factory defaults:
    • From the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
    • Confirm the reset.
  2. This will remove the EWS password and reset network settings.

HP Smart Account Password

If you're referring to your HP Smart account (used for HP Smart app):

Steps:

  1. Go to the HP Account Sign-In page.
  2. Click Forgot your username or password?
  3. Follow the prompts to reset your password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
