Hi @CRB10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble updating your HP ENVY 5070 printer and keep encountering a "retry" message, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to a stable internet connection. If it's connected via Wi-Fi, check that the signal is strong.

Restart Printer and Router: Sometimes, simply restarting your printer and router can resolve connectivity issues.

Update Firmware Manually:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  • Download the latest firmware update for your printer.
  • Follow the instructions to manually install the firmware update on your printer.

Check for Printer Software Updates:

  • Open the HP Smart app or the HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
  • Check for any available software updates and install them.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Attempt the update process again.

Clear Cache on the Printer:

  • Navigate to the printer's settings menu and look for any options related to maintenance or cache clearing.
  • Clear the printer's cache if the option is available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
