@rjd636, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating slow printing can be, especially when you're trying to help a friend with limited computer knowledge. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Turn off Quiet Mode: This mode can slow down printing to reduce noise. You can disable it through the HP Smart app.
  • Reduce Print Quality: Lowering the print quality can speed up printing. Adjust this setting in the printer preferences.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download them from the HP Support website.

Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is on, wait for about 60 seconds, and then reconnect it.

Use Both Cartridges:

  • Make sure both ink cartridges are properly installed and not empty.

Uninstall and Reinstall HP Print Driver:

  • Sometimes reinstalling the driver can resolve issues. Uninstall the current driver and use the HP Smart app to reinstall it.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to a stable network. A weak or unstable connection can cause delays.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
