Resumé:

Uninstall old HP driver, in programs and features

Delete your printer’s name in Program Files and ProgramX86.

Control panel, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer, delete.

Download this driver, to prepare the driver installation.

Right click on the downloaded file, property, unblock, OK.

Right click on the setup.exe, install as administrator.

At the end of the installation of the new full Hp driver restart your computer.

At the end of the installation, go to control panel, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer, set as default printer, then right click again, create a shortcut, on the desktop? Yes.

Go to the Windows desktop and click on the new shortcut.

In the window that opens, click on customize the printer, a command menu will open, click on what you want to do.

At the end of the installation, restart your PC.

Funny story.

Yesterday, after timing my printer, I decided that it was time to ditch it. But check the ink level, first. About 25% so that should be okay. But wait, if this printer is going, I have printer cartridges which I cannot use – they are as obsolete as the printer. Open a new one. HP339. Take out the old one. 304XL. What?!?

Same fitting different size. 339 does not fit. So why have I got these? I always check before buying ink. What did I do?

Hang on, the non-HP cartridges are 304XL. Put the black one in.

Et voila !

Now, I can barely keep up with the printer. Your updated software has made a great difference to print speed (albeit not as much as taking out a faulty HP cartridge).

... and they all lived happily ever after.
