HP has locked up my printer where I cant even use it. So its a year old! Big deal... its not broken! Its out of warranty! Big deal... lots of things I own are out of warranty, but they weren't locked up by the manufacturer!!

I paid $10 for a driver update, now they want $20 for a month of warranty service to get it working!

@upwinger, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

Kindly elaborate on the issue with the printer for better assistance.

Are you not able to print?

Do you get any errors?

How is the printer connected?

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

It has been remotely locked up by HP. Now its being held for ransom payments to get it working again.

Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about.  It stopped working as soon as the warranty ran out!

No errors,,,  just a message saying to visit www.hpinstantink.com for information... when I do I get messages to

pay these extortion payments:

I paid recently $10 for a driver update which failed to work, and now I'm being told to pay $20 for 1 month of warranty just to be able to talk to someone to get it working.

I will buy Epson or Brother printers from now on, and I wont be purchasing another HP computer next time either.

You've lost me for all future business.

I cannot help you unless you elaborate on the issue. Yes, if the printer is out of warranty, you will not get free phone support from HP.

  • Are you using Instant Ink cartridges in the printer?
  • Is the printer enrolled in Instant Ink?
  • If the printer is not enrolled, the Instant Ink cartridges will not work. Use the regular HP inks.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

My apologies.

All you had to do was send me an email saying there was a problem with my billing information.

I dont think I am printing enough to be paying the subscription, except a month or two out the year.

I wish there were some analytics built to check usage.

You can always check the number of pages printed, the ink levels, and the billing info from your Instant Ink account.
