I can't get my Envy 7640 to print custom envelopes. Any ideas?

The printer appears to support Custom Paper Sizes.

Creating Custom Paper Sizes

That said,

  • There are several ways to create envelopes - the most common is to use Word > Mailings > Envelopes
  • There are restrictions on sizes for envelopes.  That is, even when it "appears" the envelope is within the size limits for custom paper sizes, the envelope setup can fail.

Setup Failure - Example, (different thread and newer printer in a similar series):

Test Results

Using Office Professional 2018, Windows 20H2, HP Officejet Pro 9025 Word > Mailings > Envelopes

Envelope Options

Custom Size

Dimensions > 5.8" wide by 4.4" high

Result > Error > "Size too small" >> Envelope must be (at least) 6.4" in width

Result (self / force corrected) size = 6.4" x 4.4"

What does that mean?

What you can do, even assuming your printer supports Custom Paper Size and creating a Custom Envelope, depends on the size of the envelope.

What else?

"can't do" covers a lot of territory.

For example

Can you narrow down what is going on?

Size of Envelope?

What software / method are you using to create the envelope?

Are there errors?

Does the envelope print but does it do so incorrectly?

Does the printer know that you have loaded envelopes?   User Guide > Page 14 > Step 4

Provide a bit more information?
