The 'easy start' driver installer for my Deskjet 2630 does not seem to work on my Windows 7 machine.

It says ' the software is not compatible with your hardware'.

Hi,

Download and install the printer using the software below:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/DJ2600/DJ2600_Full_WebPack_43.3.2478.exe

For a USB connection, be sure not to plug the USB prior the installation guides doing so.

Try the HP Print and scan doctor.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

It should help find the issue.

That didn't work because the required NET4.6 software wouldn't load.

If you have Windows 7 SP1 installed you should be able to use the offline installer for .net 4.6 at the link below this line.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=10&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjQkKKti8n...

Once you install it, try the printer software installer again.

here is another method to install  dot.net 4.6. This may even be a simpler way.

"How to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1  or higher versions on Windows 7 OS
  1. Click Start -> Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
  4. Click the checkbox next to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.
  5. You will see the checkbox become filled.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Wait for Windows to complete the operation. If it asks you to connect to Windows Update to download required files, click Yes."

Did that but the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 box was already filled and 'OK' did nothing.

For 'winver' I get 6.1 (7600). so it looks as if my system isn't the 7.1 that you suggested.

It worked! It took quite a while and hung up towards the end without any error message or explanation but when I closed the process the printer was working.

Thank you most sincerely.
