the office jet 8500a has lost wireless connection to the AT&T Uverse router.model # NVG599.  I have tried multiple times to reset and reconnect both by typing in the router name and PW properly but the printer will not connect   the printer is finding the correct wi fi name but will not successfully connect.

@Dubya1, Welcome to HP Support Community!

You can follow the steps below:

Print a Wireless Test Report-

  • Load plain white paper into the input tray.

  • On the printer control panel home screen, swipe left and then touch Setup.

  • Swipe up, touch Print Reports, and then touch Wireless Test Report

If all the tests are passed, continue troubleshooting.

Restart the printer, and router to resolve any connectivity error states.

  • Turn off the router by pressing the power button or disconnecting the power cord.
  • Turn off the printer, and then unplug any USB or Ethernet cables.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the router, and then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
  • Turn on the printer.

Try running the Wireless Setup Wizard.

If the issue persists, reset the printer to network defaults and try again.

Additional troubleshooting-

  • Make sure the printer and router are at least 5 feet apart
  • Login to the router page, set router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never ‘auto’.  Try channel 1 first then the others one at a time
  • The router must have the 2.4G SSID band enabled because the printer is only compatible with 2.4G

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
