with new win 11 hp laptop my hp photosmart d110a connected via USB 001,will not print on both sides of paper. Dual side printing is selected in settings. The same connections and printer work properly with older win 10 hp PB650. Also, the printer ejects a blank page before printing, The separator page in advanced settings is blank. I have re-installed drivers and restarted both the computer and printer. The problems persist.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer is not working as expected, especially when you're dealing with issues like double-sided printing and blank pages. Let's try to work through this together.

 

To better understand the issue:

 

  • Have you verified that the printer's duplex (two-sided) printing feature is enabled directly through the printer's settings menu (not just the software)?
  • Is the blank page being printed consistently before every job, or does it only occur under certain conditions?
  • Do you notice any specific error messages in the printer queue or on your laptop when trying to print?

 

Here are five troubleshooting steps you can try:

 

Check Printer Settings Directly on the Printer: Ensure that duplex printing is activated on the printer itself by going to the printer’s settings menu, if available, and checking the options for double-sided printing.

 

Update Printer Driver & Firmware: Even though you've re-installed the drivers, it might be helpful to check for any recent updates for both the printer driver and firmware for your HP Photosmart D110a, as they could address compatibility issues with Windows 11.

 

Clear Print Queue & Restart Spooler: Sometimes, issues with blank pages can be related to corrupted print jobs. Clear your printer queue and restart the Windows Print Spooler service by searching for "services.msc" in the Start menu and restarting the "Print Spooler" service.

 

Disable Separator Page in Printer Settings: Since you mentioned the separator page is blank, go into the printer's advanced settings and disable this feature completely to see if that resolves the issue with the blank page.

 

Use Windows Printer Troubleshooter: Run the built-in Windows Printer Troubleshooter (Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Printer) to identify any automatic fixes for printing problems specific to Windows 11.
