P3005dn won't print. tried turning on printer before turning on HP laptop. Sometimes it prints; then have to turn off the printer, turn it on and restart laptop. I printed configuration page and it it states "wrong printer port configured." I did not make any changes so how do I fix this?

Hello,
Hope you are well, to check on the printer port, please go to control panel > devices and printers > select the printer icon and right click over it, and then select printer properties.
from the printer properties window, please select the port tab, it will show the current port selected, if its USB connection, it may say USB virtual port 001 or 002 , if its on network, it may say WSD port or the IP address.
In case the incorrect port is selected, please select the correct one, or create a new port if its a network connection, thru the add port button and standard tcp/ip port wizard.
if issue persists, reinstall the printer on the computer.

Tried all that. Doesn't work. Here is ny complete situation.
Have been trying to reinstall my HP LaserJet MFP M130fw for over ten hours without success. (Previous install went fine, but disk issues required deletion and reinstall.)
Install seems to work, but I cannot print. Problem seems to be related to the installation software choosing the wrong port.
HP Print and Scan Doctor (HPPSDr) says Wrong Printer Port Configured (the configured port is a WSD Port). The spinning circle in HPPSDr indicates it is working on “Port Match”
When HPPSDr finishes, it says “HP LaserJet MFP M129-M134 PCLm-S Network) / Some issues were found and fixed with your product”. However, the configured Port does not change, still the WSD Port.
Test Print from within HPPDr does not work. Next screen offers “No Print” option. When this is selected and then “Internal Test Page” is chosen, the internal test page prints successfully.
When advised that the Internal Test Page printed, HPPSDr sys “There is a problem with your software that cannot be fixed by this tool”.
My choices are then “Uninstall” or “Skip”. I have uninstalled and reinstalled over a dozen times, all with exactly the same results. When I choose Skip, I am given 5 choices of other ways to proceed. I have tried all of them multiple times, except the HP Support Forum, but including at least 4 sessions with Virtual Agent. Nothing helps.. You guys are my last hope!!
The printer is assigned a static IP address of 192.168.2.5. And typing that address into a browser gets me to a page with HP's logo at the top and the identifier "HP LaserJet MFP M130fw (Printer ID code) 192.168.2.5". Likewise the “Networking” tab shows an IPv4 address of 192.168.2.5.
Manually changing the Port, using “Printer Properties à Ports” to either “HP MFP M130fw” or “102.168.2.5” then selecting “Apply” does not resolve the problem.
Because of other Network users, choosing a dynamic IP address for the printer is not an available option.

Afternoon,
Hope you are fine, on this scenario, its better to manually add the port on the print queue, go to devices and printers, right click on the printer and select the printer properties > ports tab and click add port, select standard TCP/IP port (not the HP TCP/IP port) , it will open the port wizard, go next and type the IP address and then uncheck the query check mark, then go next and apply the changes.
After manually adding the port , IP should remain the same and it should not modify by itself unless you have network troubles.
As well please try to restart the print spool service.
go to services , look for print spooler and restart the service.
Regards,
