First off Windows 10 tells me it sees the printer but when I try to print from any Windows app it does not allow me to. I have run HP Print and Scan Doctor multiple times and each time it comes up with a Port Match Issue Fix. I do not know what this means but whatever the Print and Scan Doctor finds wrong does not get fixed permanently.
I do not understand why this cannot be fixed permanently. I have uninstalled the HP drivers, re-installed multiple times, and still no go. I have uninstalled, run a registry cleaner to make sure I got rid of any potential registry issues, and then re-installed the full driver software. I now have two PCs that just upgraded to Windows 10 10586 build and cannot print!
Help,
Steve

Hey there @StevePetrillo,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the 'port match' issue you're experiencing when trying to print from your Windows 10 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps that you have completed prior to reaching out for support. At this time we're going to start by running a couple of additional software and driver troubleshooting steps. Can you please follow all of the steps in order below.
If using a USB Cable connection between your printer and computer, please disconnect that cable now.

3. Click Programs and Features to launch the window.
4. In Programs and Features, a list of programs installed on your computer will populate. Please scroll down the list and look for your HP Officejet. If you see your HP Officejet listed, click it and choose Uninstall.

Hey there @StevePetrillo,

Let me know how this goes!

Followed your instructions to the letter and then rebooted PC. I still cannot print. The print and scan doctor app again comes back saying it fixed a port match issue, but even after that I am not able to print. I can print a test page from the print and scan doctor app but nothing else lets me print.

10. Click New Port
11. Hit Next of the Port Wizard
12. Enter IP Address that you gathered off printer
13. Hit Finish
14. Close the Printer Ports window
15. The newly created port should now be selected under the Ports list for your printer. Click Apply and OK to save changes.
Now that the port has been manually created, please try printing. Let me know how this goes! 🙂

Hey @StevePetrillo,
Thanks again for getting back to me. 🙂
Let's try a few additional steps to isolate this issue. We're going to unlock the hidden system Administrator Account on your computer. Once unlocked, we'll log into this Account and install the printer. We'll then test your printer to confirm that it's working the way it's supposed to. Ideally, we should then be able to log back into your normal User Account and print like normal. Please follow the steps below.
- Step 1: Remove Driver:
1. Click on your Start button
2. Just type Programs and Features. If a search doesn't automatically start, you may need to type Programs and Features in the 'Ask me Anything' box.
3. Click Programs and Features to launch the window.
4. In Programs and Features, a list of programs installed on your computer will populate. Please scroll down the list and look for your HP Officejet. If you see your HP Officejet listed, click it and choose Uninstall.
5. Please follow any onscreen prompts to complete the uninstall. Once the uninstall has completed successfully please close Programs and Features.
6. Next, click on your Start menu again
7. This time type Devices
8. Click Devices and Printers to launch the window.
9. In Devices and Printers look for your HP Officejet. If you see if please right click on it and choose 'Remove' or 'Delete'
10. Once your HP Officejet is no longer showing in Devices and Printers please click on any device under the Printers list once just to highlight it. Click Print Server Properties at the top
11. Click on the Drivers tab
12. Look for your HP Officejet driver. If listed, please click on it and choose Remove
13. Select Remove Driver Only
14. Select OK
15. Click Apply and OK under the Print Server Properties window.
16. Close Devices and Printers. Please proceed to the next step.
- Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
1. Click on your Start menu
2. Type Run. Click Run to launch the Run dialogue box.
3. Type %temp% in the Run box and click OK
4. When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
5. Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
6. Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
7. Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin. Please proceed to the next step.
- Step 3: Unlock System Administrator Account:
1. Click on your Start menu and type CMD
2. CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
3. Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter on your keyboard
4. Next, close CMD and restart your computer
5. When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show on the bottom left. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
- NOTE: If your computer automatically logs into your Account after restart, click on Start. Under your Start menu click your User Account name (top left) and choose Sign Out. You should now be able to select the Administrator Account to log into.
6. Under the Administrator Account click here to download the Full Feature drivers for your Officejet
7. Once the download is complete, follow onscreen prompts to install printer
8. Once installed, test printing to confirm that printing is functioning properly
9. Once confirmed, Sign Out of this Account and Sign In to your normal User Account
10. Under your normal User Account please test printing again to confirm that your printer still functions properly
Once printing has been confirmed as working, you'll need to Hide the Administrator Account.
- Step 4: Hide Administrator Account:
1. Click on your Start menu and type CMD
2. CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
3. Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:no and hit enter on your keyboard
4. Next, close CMD and restart your computer
When your computer comes back on, please test printing again to confirm that the Officejet is still printing properly.
Let me know how this goes. Fingers crossed! 🙂

Hi there, I'm having exactly the same issue.
I've spent all afternoon fighting with this. Uninstalling/reinstalling etc. No change. I can print from the test Print & Scan Doctor but not from my laptop.
I was able to print from my tablet to the printer using the HP App. Which just confuses me.
I've turned off my laptop firewall with no effect.
Printer = connected by cat5
Laptop = wireless on same network.
Test print from Printer properties fails, Printing from software fails.

I'm with the two previous posters. And I'm an IT support person so I understand computers and printers. I must say that I am totally fed up with this software on one computer.
Husband's laptop - installed JUST the printer (NO HP software) and it works fine. Tablet prints fine. BUT My laptop had the HP software installed, then the printer during the software installation. Nada. Can't test print, can't print from word/excel/office/pdf. BUT I can print if a) I use Notepad b) I use a different HP Laserjet driver, but then I lose the auto duplex capability which is why I purchased this printer. Set up: HP 8610 connected with cat5 laptops/tablet using wifi on same network. Tried Static IP/DHCP issued/DHCP Reservation.
PLEASE don't tell me to 'uninstall and reinstall'. I've done that so many times I've lost count. I'm now at two DAYS wasted with this printer.
Constant 'port match issue' shows through the support tool, but it never fixes. Through the tool I can print a test page, once closed with the 'port match issue' fixed, nada.
Is there a tool to TOTALLY uninstall ALL HP drivers, software and registry information? I think that's the only way to get this resolved. I've tried manually uninstalling the registry entries but there are a few that are locked. Tried cc-cleaner. No luck.
HELP. Printer seems like it will be good, but the software screwed up my computer's print capability.
