Printer not working. Attempted to reset, got as far as to remove the toner cartridge but it is frozen. Does not move into center position enabling removal. Machine is plugged into power strip and not directly into wall.

I reviewed your post and understand that you are getting an error on the printer front panel.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

I too am getting this error code on my printer and I have tried everything to reset the printer to get it working again but to no avail.  Anything else I can do to fix the issue

The document linked in your answer says in step 4 to remove the cartidges from the printer. The problem with that, as noted by to original question, is that the cartridge tray is locked at the far right such that it can only be moved about a half-inch by hand and the cartidges cannot be removed in that position. Now what? Otherwise, I have the same issues as previously stated: mesages saying there is a paper jam, warning not to turn off the printer by uplugging it even though it won't shut off via the on-off button, and a general "printer malfunction" message with the code cited above.

I too had the same issue. Jam error with no jam, locked ink cartridges to the right position, and an error about not shutting down properly. I restored the default factory settings and it started working again.

How would a factory reset be done from just the printer?

HP Recommended
I can’t find the option for the factory reset. I came across it randomly trying to fix the issue. Try going to setup and network set up there is a restore network settings option. I don’t think that’s what I had found but maybe it will work?
HP Recommended

It was under Setup, Printer Maintenance, Restore, Restore Factory Defaults

Hi @RaymondLee

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Have you tried these steps yet?

If the issue still persists, this indicates a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Have a great day!
