When plugging printer it comes up with blank screen. none of the buttons work so I can't turn it on or off. Happened once before and turned out to be combination of bad cord and needing to reset it (which forget how to do that). Have tested current cord on another printer and it work fine.??????
UPDATE: Is it possible that the printer will not work because I am on the instant ink program and having bought like cartridges but not from the instant ink program and have them installed giving me the incompatible or missing cartridge error message before it went out to lunch?
and if so what do i do about it. Right now the printer is shows a blank screen when plugged in meaning it is getting power but will not work.

Hi @krervin
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
This issue has nothing to do with the ink cartridges. You may use non-instant ink cartridges when required. This could be a hardware issue with the printer display.
Is there any damage to the printer screen or did a power surge occur at your place?
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Check if you are able to print from your PC.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
