How did the 7155 connect to velop network without entering a password?

Envy Photo 7155
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

While setting up the 7155, the printer connected to my velop network without my having to enter a network password. How did that happen? Did it somehow sense my other HP printer and get a password from it? It was not connected to my laptop during setup.  If it somehow circumvented the password requirement, then it may be a security hazard.  There are no "guest" accounts anywhere in our network.

Hello,

Well, that is a little perplexing. It's possible that the setup took advantage of a "WPS Push" setup. That generally has to be done very intentionally (There is generally a small button on the router to engage a receptive mode and bypass the password). Other than that, it seems like there just may be an issue with the security of your router and you may want to look into that specifically. The printer definitely has no special capacity to bypass router security.

Thanks,
Clayton
