Common problems for Connectivity Issues

Had not used printer in a while, it was in storage. Setting it back up, it keeps saying my PIN is not correct. I don't have any typo's, my wife also tried and we verified the PIN is correct. I hit cancel and then it takes me to a SETUP cartridge screen....but I no longer have those as this is about a 2 year old printer and I've used several cartridges since purchasing.

I did see another FAQ to reset it to factory settings with the normal (non-SETUP) cartridge in there but that also asks for my PIN.

I have turned off and on the printer several times, unplugged it. Tried a different computer with HP Smart and I can't use my printer. I had purchased over $100 in HP ink recently so it's pretty frustrating I can't use it!

Hello, thank you for the reply. It is the exact pin, wife had verified also. It's not asking for my pin now though, stuck at the SETUP cartridge error.

When using the HP Smart app, it discovered the printer and after connecting it to Wi-Fi I was asked for a PIN initially. I was able to close that area out and then was prompted for a SETUP cartridge which I no longer have.

Using HP Smart, the printer product number on the printer and the one on the embedded web are not the same. I used to have an older, same model, printer. But this was discovered using the app and connecting to the embedded web on the printer so not sure why it would be different.

Attached screenshots or pictures of the errors and settings, that's where I noticed the different product ID from my actual printer that I'm trying to set-up.

Thank you,

-Adam

Hi @Freiermuth

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are still facing issues with the setup cartridge. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Follow the trade override procedure to initialize the printer with trade cartridges.

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button for at least three seconds.

Pressing and holding the Wireless button for at least three seconds

  • Close the ink cartridge access door.
  • An Alignment Page prints, indicating that the printer has initialized.
  • If the printer does not initialize, repeat these steps until it does.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
