HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I just set up my new 9125e printer.   Connected wi-fi seemingly with no issues, but neither HP Smart or my computer can find the printer.  I printed the Test Page and under Connectivity it says 'Fail', although all other categories say pass and at the bottom of the page under 'Internet Status' it also says 'Connected'.  I've tried turning everything off, then back on, re-doing the WiFi set up but same result  -  cannot find the printer.  Help!

Hi @nachott,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e is connected to your WiFi but is not being properly detected by your computer or the HP Smart app. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Ensure Printer and Computer Are on the Same Network

  • Verify that both your printer and computer are connected to the same WiFi network. Sometimes, dual-band routers have separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, and your devices need to be on the same one.

2. Restart Network Devices

  • Power cycle your router and modem by turning them off for 30 seconds and then turning them back on. After the router restarts, power on the printer and your computer.

3. Reconfigure the Printer WiFi Connection

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer and try setting up the printer again.
  • If the app still cannot find the printer, try manually connecting it to WiFi by using the printer's control panel:
    • On the printer, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Follow the prompts to reconnect to your WiFi network.

4. Disable VPN and Firewall Temporarily

  • If you have a VPN or firewall active, temporarily disable them to see if they are blocking the connection between your computer and the printer.

5. Check IP Address

  • On the printer’s test page, check the IP address listed under the Connectivity section.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer’s IP address into the address bar. If the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) page opens, the printer is connected to the network, but there’s a communication issue with your computer.

6. Assign a Static IP Address

  • Go to your router’s settings (you can usually do this by typing the router’s IP address into a browser). In the router settings, reserve an IP address for the printer based on its MAC address.
  • Assign the reserved IP address to the printer under the Network Settings > IP Settings on the printer control panel.

7. Uninstall and Reinstall HP Smart

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your computer, restart it, and then reinstall the app. Once reinstalled, try to set up the printer again.

8. Check Windows Services

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll down to the Print Spooler service. Ensure it is running. If not, right-click it and select Start. Also, ensure the startup type is set to Automatic.

9. USB Setup as a Temporary Solution

  • If none of the above solutions work, try connecting the printer to your computer via USB cable. Once connected, open HP Smart to see if it can find the printer and guide you through reconnecting it to the WiFi.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
