Our printer is HP Smart Tank 7005. Living in the Aussie bush, we lost internet connection 3 weeks ago. Now we have a new modem (router) the printer is not connecting with the Wifi. When the printer is started up the wifi light flashes. Is not solid, and the printer fails to print. Thank you. E-chidna.

Hi @e-chidna,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Restart Devices:
- Turn off your printer and your new modem/router.
- Disconnect the power cord from the router, wait for 15 seconds, then reconnect it and wait for the lights to display a connected status.
- Restart your printer and your computer or mobile devices connected to the network.
Check Network Requirements:
- Ensure your new modem/router meets the requirements mentioned by HP, such as supporting 2.4 GHz SSID since not all HP printers support 5.0 GHz frequency bands.
Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode:
- Printers with a touchscreen control panel: On the control panel, open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network Setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
- Printers without a touchscreen control panel: Use the control panel buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer. Detailed steps can be found here.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Once Wi-Fi setup mode is restored, open the HP Smart app. If you haven't installed it, download it from HP Smart - Mac App Store, HP Smart - Microsoft Store, or 123.hp.com.
- Open the HP Smart app on your device. Click Add Printer or the plus sign to find your printer and follow the guided setup screens to complete the printer setup.
- If the printer is not found, try restoring Wi-Fi setup mode again and retry.
Check Signal Strength:
- Ensure that your printer is close to the modem/router. Move your printer closer if the wireless icon on your computer shows a weak signal.
- Avoid large metal objects and devices emitting radio signals such as microwaves and cordless phones which can interfere with Wi-Fi signals.
Print a Wireless Network Test Report:
- For additional diagnostics, print a Wireless Network Test Report using the instructions from the control panel. This report can help identify connectivity issues and guide further troubleshooting. Instructions for printing the Wireless Network Test Report can be found here.
I hope this helps.
