PLEASE HELP!!! For a few months when I print from my iPhone it is printing multiple copies even though I have one copy checked. I have a certain amount of pages I can use monthly and this issue is eating into my count. Itll be printing and an error comes up on the phone saying “lost connection to printer. Cancel print job or try again”. Yet, the printer is still printing and will finish printing even if I don’t click the error message. So it makes zero sense. Phone, HP smart app, and printer firmware is all up to date. Ive checked all the settings online and everything looks good. I have screenshots of the error message and I attached them. Shows before print, during print and after printing when I cancel out and it shows that there are no documents set to print. I really need help. I only air print and if I can’t even do that then I’ll have to get a new printer and spending money on that isn’t something I can afford atm, this printer is babied and still like new. Very annoying. Thanks!!!!

Hi @Lisabeatty32,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with that issue. Since you’ve already ensured that your iPhone, HP Smart app, and printer firmware are all up-to-date, here are some steps to further troubleshoot the problem with your HP ENVY 5055.
Check Printer Settings:
- From the Printer: Go to the printer's menu and check the settings for any default copy settings. Sometimes, a default setting might be causing it to print multiple copies.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear any glitches or temporary issues.
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer, navigate to the network settings and perform a network reset. After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and try printing again.
Check iOS Settings:
- Reboot iPhone: Sometimes, a simple restart of your iPhone can resolve connectivity issues.
- Reinstall HP Smart App: Delete the HP Smart app from your iPhone and reinstall it. This can help if the app itself is causing issues.
Check AirPrint Settings:
- Printer’s Web Interface: Access the printer’s web interface by typing the printer’s IP address into a web browser. Look for any AirPrint settings or job handling settings that might need adjustment.
Use a Different Device:
- Try printing from a different device using AirPrint to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with your iPhone or the printer itself.
Update or Reconfigure Network:
- Ensure that your router’s firmware is up-to-date and that the printer is not too far from the router. Intermittent connection issues could be causing the multiple copies problem.
Check for Printer Firmware Update:
- Occasionally, additional updates may be available that address specific issues. Check the HP website for any new firmware updates for your printer model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I’ve tried all the suggestions but haven’t managed to resolve the issue. I’ve only tried printing from my iPhone. I noticed that it only happens when printing a two or more page document. It’s very annoying.
