HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer

Hello

My first question : is it possible getting the ancient series of programs HP deskjet 2600 series (for example)
It was much better than the application HP smart

My second question : I installed the printer in wifi as required. Is it possible passing to an USB cable connection  and how ?

My third question : what is the method when the wifi network changes (a new box, changing the access provider, for example)
Thanks

Hi @Pierre771 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a Software issue with your HP DeskJet 2820e All-In-One Printer .

Let's address your questions one by one.

1. Using the Older HP Deskjet 2600 Series Software

While HP generally encourages users to upgrade to their latest software (like HP Smart), it is often possible to use older software if you find it more suitable. Here’s how you can try to get the older HP Deskjet 2600 series software:

  1. HP Support Website: Check the HP support website for drivers and software for the HP Deskjet 2600 series. Sometimes older versions are still available for download. Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer

2. Switching from Wi-Fi to USB Connection

To switch your HP DeskJet 2820e from a Wi-Fi connection to a USB connection:

  1. Connect USB Cable: Plug one end of the USB cable into the printer and the other end into your computer.
  2. Install Drivers: Your computer should automatically detect the printer and install the necessary drivers. If it doesn't, you may need to download the USB driver from the HP website.
  3. Change Connection Type: If the printer was previously set up via Wi-Fi, you might need to change the connection type in the HP Smart app or your computer’s printer settings.
    • Open the HP Smart app or go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners" on your computer.
    • Select your HP DeskJet 2820e.
    • Change the connection type from wireless to USB.
  4. Disable Wi-Fi on Printer: Some models allow you to turn off Wi-Fi directly from the printer settings menu. Check the printer's user manual for instructions.

3. Changing Wi-Fi Network on the Printer

If your Wi-Fi network changes (e.g., new router or provider), you need to reconnect your HP DeskJet 2820e to the new network:

  1. Reset Network Settings:
    • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button until the Power button starts flashing. This resets the network settings to default.
  2. Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
    • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
    • Click on the plus sign (+) to add a new printer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer on the new Wi-Fi network. You'll need the new network name (SSID) and password.
  3. Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) (if supported by your router):
    • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for a few seconds until it starts blinking.
    • Press the WPS button on your router within two minutes.
    • The printer should automatically connect to the network.
