If your HP Smart App is not recognizing your printer while your printer is online, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Ensure Basic Requirements

Ensure both devices are on the same network:

  • Make sure your mobile device and printer are connected to the same wireless network.

Check Wi-Fi signal strength:

  • Ensure that both your printer and mobile device have a strong Wi-Fi signal. If you have numerous Wi-Fi points or wireless devices nearby, they could be causing interference.

Steps to Troubleshoot

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your mobile device to refresh their connection.

Enable Bluetooth:

  • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on for your mobile device as it helps in discovering printers.

Enable Location Services:

  • Ensure that location services are enabled for the HP Smart app on your mobile device.

Sign in to HP Smart:

  • Make sure you are signed into the HP Smart app with your HP account credentials. This might help sync and identify your printer.

Reconnect Wi-Fi:

  • If your printer was online but you still had issues finding it, reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard available in the printer’s settings.
