I own an HP Smart Tank 7600 printer and have set up the scan-to-email function using a Hotmail account. Until a few days ago, this feature worked perfectly. However, I am now unable to use the scan-to-email function, and the HP Smart app displays the error “Incorrect login details. Check username/password and try again.” or “Server down.”
I have already taken the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Disconnected and reconnected the printer from the power supply.
- Reinstalled the HP Smart app.
- Reconnected the printer.
Unfortunately, these measures have not resolved the problem. Here are the current settings:
- SMTP server name: smtp-mail.outlook.com
- SMTP port: 25 or 587
- Username: [Your Hotmail address]
- Password: [Your password]
I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue so that I can use the scan-to-email function again.

Dear HP Support Team,
I am writing to seek assistance with an issue I am experiencing with the “Scan to Email” feature on my HP printer. Despite updating all settings for my **bleep** account, I continue to receive the following error message: “Incorrect login credentials. Please check your username/password and try again.”
Here are the steps I have taken so far:
- Verified and updated the SMTP server settings.
- Double-checked the username and password for accuracy.
- Attempted to reset and reconfigure the email settings multiple times.
Unfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the issue. I would appreciate any guidance or solutions you can provide to help me get the “Scan to Email” feature working again with my **bleep** (**bleep**) account.

I have exactly the same problem. I have checked all my settings and they are as required. It was working on 4 October 2024 and now on 14 October 2024 it is not working. Why? It just keeps saying the my username/password is incorrect yet I can actually log into my Hotmail account with these same settings.
